Job 17:1-16
1. My strength is almost gone. I won't live much longer. A grave is waiting for me.
2. People who make fun of me are all around me. I'm forced to watch as they attack me with their words.
3. "God, please pay the price to have me set free. Who else would put up money for me?
4. You have closed the minds of those who are trying to comfort me. They don't understand that I haven't done anything wrong. So don't let them win the argument.
5. Suppose a man tells lies about his friends to get a reward. Then his own children will suffer for it.
6. "God has made everyone laugh at me. People spit in my face.
7. My eyes have grown weak because I'm so sad. My body is so thin it hardly casts a shadow.
8. Those who claim to be honest are shocked when they see me. Those who think they haven't sinned are stirred up against me. They think I'm ungodly.
9. But godly people will keep doing what is right. Those who have clean hands will grow stronger.
10. "Come on, all of you! Try again! I can't find a wise person among you.
11. My life is almost over. My plans are destroyed. And so are the longings of my heart.
12. People like you turn night into day. Even though it's dark you say, 'Light is nearby.'
13. Suppose the only home I can hope for is a grave. And suppose I make my bed in the darkness of death.
14. Suppose I say to the grave, 'You are like a father to me.' And suppose I say to its worms, 'You are like a mother or sister to me.'
15. Then what hope do I have? Who can give me any hope?
16. Will hope go down to the gates of death with me? Will we go down together into the dust of the grave?"

Job 18:1-21
1. Then Bildad the Shuhite replied,
2. "Job, when will you stop these speeches of yours? Be reasonable! Then we can talk.
3. Why do you look at us as if we were cattle? Why do you think of us as being stupid?
4. Your anger is tearing you to pieces. Does the earth have to be deserted just to prove you are right? Must all of the rocks be moved from their places?
5. "The lamps of sinful people are blown out. Their flames will never burn again.
6. The lights in their tents become dark. The lamps beside those who are evil go out.
7. They walk more slowly than they used to. Their own evil plans make them fall.
8. Their feet take them into a net. They wander right into it.
9. A trap grabs hold of their heels. It refuses to let them go.
10. A trap lies in their path. A rope to catch them is hidden on the ground.
11. Terrors alarm them on every side. They follow them every step of the way.
12. Trouble would like to eat them up. Danger waits for them when they fall.
13. It eats away parts of their skin. Death itself feeds on their arms and legs.
14. They are torn away from the safety of their tents. They are marched off to the one who rules over death.
15. Fire races through their tents. Burning sulfur is scattered over their homes.
16. Their roots dry up under them. Their branches dry up above them.
17. No one on earth remembers them. Their names are forgotten in the land.
18. They are driven from light into darkness. They are thrown out of the world.
19. Their family dies out among their people. No one is left where they used to live.
20. What has happened to them shocks the people in the west. It terrifies the people in the east.
21. Now you know what the homes of sinners are like. Those who don't know God live in places like that."

Psalms 95:1-5
1. Come, let us sing with joy to the Lord. Let us give a loud shout to the Rock who saves us.
2. Let us come to him and give him thanks. Let us praise him with music and song.
3. The Lord is the great God. He is the greatest King. He rules over all of the gods.
4. He owns the deepest parts of the earth. The mountain peaks belong to him.
5. The ocean is his, because he made it. He formed the dry land with his hands.

Proverbs 23:1-3
1. When you sit down to eat with a ruler, look carefully at what's in front of you.
2. Put a knife to your throat if you like to eat too much.
3. Don't long for his fancy food. It can fool you.

Romans 12:1-21
1. Brothers and sisters, God has shown you his mercy. So I am asking you to offer up your bodies to him while you are still alive. Your bodies are a holy sacrifice that is pleasing to God. When you offer your bodies to God, you are worshiping him.
2. Don't live any longer the way this world lives. Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.
3. God's grace has been given to me. So here is what I say to every one of you. Don't think of yourself more highly than you should. Be reasonable when you think about yourself. Keep in mind the amount of faith God has given you.
4. Each of us has one body with many parts. And the parts do not all have the same purpose.
5. So also we are many persons. But in Christ we are one body. And each part of the body belongs to all the other parts.
6. We all have gifts. They differ in keeping with the grace that God has given each of us. Do you have the gift of prophecy? Then use it in keeping with the faith you have.
7. Is it your gift to serve? Then serve. Is it teaching? Then teach.
8. Is it telling others how they should live? Then tell them. Is it giving to those who are in need? Then give freely. Is it being a leader? Then work hard at it. Is it showing mercy? Then do it cheerfully.
9. Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good.
10. Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.
11. Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord.
12. When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful.
13. Share with God's people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes.
14. Bless those who hurt you. Bless them, and do not call down curses on them.
15. Be joyful with those who are joyful. Be sad with those who are sad.
16. Agree with each other. Don't be proud. Be willing to be a friend of people who aren't considered important. Don't think that you are better than others.
17. Don't pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone thinks is right.
18. If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can.
19. My friends, don't try to get even. Leave room for God to show his anger. It is written, "I am the One who judges people. I will pay them back,"--(Deuteronomy 32:35) says the Lord.
20. Do just the opposite. Scripture says, "If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. By doing those things, you will pile up burning coals on their heads." --(Proverbs 25:21,22)
21. Don't let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good.
