Isaiah 11:1-16
1. Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.
2. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him-- a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.
3. His delight will be in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, He will not execute justice by what He hears with His ears,
4. but He will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with discipline from His mouth, and He will kill the wicked with a command from His lips.
5. Righteousness and faithfulness will be a belt around His waist.
6. The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the goat. The calf, the young lion, and the fatling will be together, and a child will lead them.
7. The cow and the bear will graze, their young ones will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like an ox.
8. An infant will play beside the cobra's pit, and a toddler will put his hand into a snake's den.
9. No one will harm or destroy on My entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is filled with water.
10. On that day the root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will seek Him, and His resting place will be glorious.
11. On that day the Lord will [extend] His hand a second time to recover-- from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the coasts and islands of the west-- the remnant of His people who survive.
12. He will lift up a banner for the nations and gather the dispersed of Israel; He will collect the scattered of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13. Ephraim's envy will cease; Judah's harassment will end. Ephraim will no longer be envious of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.
14. But they will swoop down on the Philistine flank to the west. Together they will plunder the people of the east. They will extend their power over Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will be their subjects.
15. The LORD will divide the Gulf of Suez. He will wave His hand over the Euphrates with His mighty wind and will split it into seven streams, letting people walk through on foot.
16. There will be a highway for the remnant of His people who will survive from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 12:1-6
1. On that day you will say: "I will praise You, LORD, although You were angry with me. Your anger has turned away, and You have had compassion on me.
2. Indeed, God is my salvation. I will trust [Him] and not be afraid. Because Yah, the LORD, is my strength and my song, He has become my salvation."
3. You will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation,
4. and on that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD; proclaim His name! Celebrate His deeds among the peoples. Declare that His name is exalted.
5. Sing to the LORD, for He has done glorious things. Let this be known throughout the earth.
6. Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion, for the Holy One of Israel is among you in [His] greatness."

Psalms 106:6-18
6. Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have gone astray and have acted wickedly.
7. Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp [the significance of] Your wonderful works or remember Your many acts of faithful love; instead, they rebelled by the sea-- the Red Sea.
8. Yet He saved them because of His name, to make His power known.
9. He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led them through the depths as through a desert.
10. He saved them from the hand of the adversary; He redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11. Water covered their foes; not one of them remained.
12. Then they believed His promises and sang His praise.
13. They soon forgot His works and would not wait for His counsel.
14. They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert.
15. He gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.
16. In the camp they were envious of Moses and of Aaron, the LORD's holy one.
17. The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it covered the assembly of Abiram.
18. Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked.

Proverbs 25:3-5
3. As the heaven is high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings cannot be investigated.
4. Remove impurities from silver, and a vessel will be produced for a silversmith.
5. Remove the wicked from the king's presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.

2 Corinthians 2:1-17
1. In fact, I made up my mind about this: not to come to you on another painful visit.
2. For if I cause you pain, then who will cheer me other than the one hurt?
3. I wrote this very thing so that when I came I wouldn't have pain from those who ought to give me joy, because I am confident about all of you that my joy is yours.
4. For out of an extremely troubled and anguished heart I wrote to you with many tears-- not that you should be hurt, but that you should know the abundant love I have for you.
5. If anyone has caused pain, he has not caused pain to me, but in some degree-- not to exaggerate-- to all of you.
6. The punishment by the majority is sufficient for such a person,
7. so now you should forgive and comfort him instead; otherwise, this one may be overwhelmed by excessive grief.
8. Therefore I urge you to confirm your love to him.
9. It was for this purpose I wrote: so I may know your proven character, if you are obedient in everything.
10. Now to whom you forgive anything, I do too. For what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, it is for you in the presence of Christ,
11. so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his intentions.
12. When I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, a door was opened to me by the Lord.
13. I had no rest in my spirit because I did not find my brother Titus, but I said good-bye to them and left for Macedonia.
14. But thanks be to God, who always puts us on display in Christ, and spreads through us in every place the scent of knowing Him.
15. For to God we are the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
16. To some we are a scent of death leading to death, but to others, a scent of life leading to life. And who is competent for this?
17. For we are not like the many who make a trade in God's message [for profit], but as those with sincerity, we speak in Christ, as from God and before God.
